Tudor homes have simple and open floor plans. Drawing inspiration from the great halls found in medieval English castles and palaces, Tudor homes dedicate a good deal of interior space to the living room. Tudor living rooms were not only relatively large in comparison to other rooms of the house but also often had higher 9 foot ceilings. Darkly stained woodwork is the common building and decorative material of interior floors, walls, and ceilings. Wide-blank wood floors will be found in most rooms and decorative wall paneling and beamed ceilings accent foyers and entertaining/living rooms. Early Tudor homes’ bathrooms typically included pedestal sinks, clawfoot tubs, and pull chain high tank toilets. Tudor homes constructed in the later half of the 1920’s and there after commonly included wall mounted sinks, fully enclosed bathtubs, and low tank toilets.
